This Matra 670 Short Tail came just ahead of the Long Tail Matra 670 giving a French produced car its first victory snice 1950. It also made Graham Hill the first driver to win the Triple Crown of the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Formula One World Championship.
