#42. BMW TEAM GERMANY.
2006 WORLD TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP.
Driver : Jorg MULLER

This racing version of the BMW 320i is based on the latest edition of the 3-series BMW but has been crafted by the BMW motorsport department, helping Andy Priaulx to victory in the 2006 World Touring Car Championship.

Some of the notable changes to the car is that it is 45mm longer and 36mm wider than the 2005 version. Another change is that a new four cylinder engine producing 275bhp has replaced the previous six cylinder engine from last year.

BMW must build 2,600 production road cars in order to meet the FIA homologation requirements.

Team Germany is operated by Schnitzer Motorsport founded by two brothers Josef and Herbert Schnitzer in 1967 and are the longest serving and most revered team in the WTCC series. The team has tasted success in over 20 titles including three European Touring Car Championships. Josef passed away in an accident in 1978 however Herbert has continued to be directly involved with the team with help by his half brother Charly Lamm.

Other victories by this team are wins at LeMans 24 Hour in 1999 running a BMW V12 LMR, five Spa 24 Hour victories and the previous two Nurburgring 24 Hours running a M3 GTR.
