The Fiesta was built as a three door compact car and small commercial vehicle. The different versions were available with a 1,0-, 1,1- and 1,3-litre as well as a 1,6-litre petrol engine. The forerunner for the later XR 2 with a 1,6 litre 84 HP engine is the Fiesta Super S with an optional 1,1-litre or 1,3-litre engine. It also anticipated the design of the paved shoulder (production years 1980-1981). The motor sports department delivered the Fiesta X, with a 1,1 litre 70 HP engine (based on the Fiesta Ghia). It also possessed the car body design of the later XR2, without the shoulder decorations. For the base models the OHV engine was used, a 4 cylinder engine with two valves and carburettor each.
