The Maserati 250F was created for Formula 1 racing. Its introduction in 1954 saw Juan Manuel Fangio win his home country Argentine Grand Prix prior to switching camps to the new Mercedes-Benz racing team. Fangio returned to racing the trident cars in 1957 and secured his fifth and final World Championship driving the Maserati 250F.
