2001 World Superbike Championship.

Since its introduction in 1988 the Superbike World Championship was won eight times by a Ducati rider. Thus, the 916/966 series Ducati must be considered one of the most successful racing motorcycles. The powerful Superbikes from Bologna with their unmistakable sound won more races than all their competitors together.
The Ducati 996’s “Desmo-Quattro” engine had an output of approx. 168 hp @ 12.000 rpm and was a derivative of the 1999 version. Thus, it represented another milestone in the development of Ducati Superbikes
Neil Hodgson first encountered GSE Racing Ducati Team in 1999. 2001 Neil made fifth place (with 269 points.) in the world rankings his own. The highlights of his year were a win at Donington Park, a lap record at Misano and numerous pole positions and rostrum finishes.
