New Announcements.
With a break in deliveries, many manfuacturers have taken the opportunity to announce some new additions to their caralogue.
Minichamps.
Minichamps have announced a large number of items covering Formula 1, and their entry into the 1:64 scale market.
As has become customary, Minichamps announcement of the current years grid of Formula 1 items has been eagerly awaited. The wait is now over. For 2009 Minichamps will be producing every team on the F1 grid except for Ferrari in 1:43 scale. From the reigning champions McLaren to the new boys at BrawnGP, they are all covered.
In 1:18 it is very exciting to see the announcement of not only McLaren and BMW Sauber but also the ING Renault Team of Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet. The ING Renault cars will be produced under the Minichamps Car Collection banner and will not feature working steering. All of the usual Minichamps detail and quality will be included.
Minichamps have also announced their return to the 1:64 market with a new range of classic and modern road and race cars. Featuring such cars as the Bentley Brooklands, Porsche 997 GT3 RS, Mercedes Benz SLR Roadster, and the Alfa Romeo 8C in the road car collections along with several iterations of the Porsche 911 RSR on the race side these are going to be very popular. These models have been engineered with the usual Minichamps details including photoetch badges and break discs, beautifuly reproduced graphics, and presented in a very recogniseable Minichamps packaging these new items well and truly hold up the Minichamps name
Sunstar and Vitesse.
Sunstar and the sister brand Vitesse have announced several new Rally models including one that will please WRC fans all over the world.
With the withdrawal of Subaru from the World Rally Championship, 2003 World Champion Petter Solberg was forced out of a drive. Assembling a privately run team in a very short amount of time the likeable Norwegian eventually lined up a privately entered Citroen Xsara to run through the years World Rally Championship.
In only his second rally in the Xsara he, and navigator Phil Mills, managed to claim 3rd place in the Rally of Cyprus last month. This was not only his first podium since the 2008 Acropolis Rally but also the first for the Xsara since the 2007 Rally of Germany.
Sunstar and Vitesse will be producing this model in both 1:18 and 1:43 scale for release later this year.

On Track News.
Casey Stoner has opened 2009 with a great victory in the first round of the MotoGP championship which was held on the Losail Circuit in Qatar. Delayed for 24hours due to heavy rain the race went ahead with the Ducati rider taking an 8 second win over Valentino Rossi with Jorge Lorenzo finishing off the podium.
Don't forget that the 2007 World Championship winning Ducati of Casey Stoner will be arriving in the next few weeks.
