Biante Collectors Club Newsletter - 25th October 2006
FinishlineThe final round of the Formula 1 World Championship is now wrapped up for another year. Congratulations to Fernando Alonso on winning his second consecutive F1 World Drivers Championship. The end of this years championship also signals the end of the 2006 Biante Finishline competition. Before announcing this year's winners, we would like to thank all who took part in this years competition. However there can only be one winner. This year's winner is Robin Julius. Robin managed to lead the competition for most of the year, topping the points table and tipping the correct drivers at most rounds. Congratulations. The top three finishers are shown below.
1st Robin Julius 82pts
2nd David Byard 74pts
3rd Bob Stevenson 65pts
A special note on the above positions. Third place was actually equal on points with one other competitor, Terry Hines. However, Bob placed his selections earlier than did Terry Hines, therefore Terry was unfortunately pipped at the post. Just goes to shown what a great competition Finishline can be and we hope to have even more collectors take part next year.
Rally Australia
This weekend sees the final Perth based running of Rally Australia, Round 14 in the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship. Hard to believe that this year is the nineteenth edition of this great event, one which motorsport fans here in the West will surely see off in style.

V8 Supercars
The carnage wasn’t too great at Surfers Paradise last weekend, except that Mark Skaife found himself in the wars yet again. The other ‘Walkinshaw’ drivers had a reasonable time of things, with Todd Kelly coming out trumps for the weekend in his red HRT machine. Todd’s brother Rick scored a win for Toll-HSV in the last race of the weekend and his podium performance has resulted in the points gap in the Championship being narrowed down significantly.
Craig Lowndes holds a slender margin of only 30 points ahead of Rick Kelly, with Mark Winterbottom almost 300 points adrift in third position. The teams prize is perhaps not so close, with Toll-HSV having earned an even numbered 5,000 points, with Team Betta on 4,675 points ahead of FPR on 4,131 points.
With three rounds to go, the V8 Supercars next light up at Symmons Plains for the Ferodo Tasmania Challenge on the weekend of 11th and 12th November 2006. The event shapes ups to be a close one comprising the familiar three race format.
Spark Models
Just a whisper, with more information to come, Spark Models will be producing a 1:43 scale model of the car that Mark Skaife raced at the Le Mans 24hr endurance race in 1997. This is the stealth-like V12 powered Lister Storm, car number 46, entered in the livery of Newcastle United Lister, part of a two-car team assault.
Mark Skaife fans should keep an eye out for this one, which will be available in very limited numbers only. More details - and the all important product identification code - S0364.
This Weeks Releases
Biante
This week Biante will be releasing five indvidual new 1:64 scale models from our Biante Minicars range. This selection consists of the 2006 HRT and Toll HSVDT V8 Supercars, along the 4th placed Holden LH Torana SL/R5000 L34 driven by Colin Bond and Bob Skelton in the 1974 Bathurst 1000. A detailed listing of these five models can be found below.

Liberty Classics
This week we have received a new 1:6 scale engine from Liberty Classics. This engine was exclusivly fitted to the 1970 and 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda coupe and convertible. See the link below for more information.

BBR Models
Just arrived is the 1:18 scale Ferrari 375 Plus. This car won the 1954 LeMans 24hr endurance race driven by Jose Froilan Gonzales and Maurice Trintignant.

Minichamps
Also this week sees Biante release three models from Minichamps. We have two classic 1:18 and a 1:6 scale Ducati Desmosedici which competed in the 2003 Moto Grand Prix. Details of these three models are below.
